Goodbye Paragraphs, hello The Paris End.
A brand new newsletter with me, Cameron Hurst, and Sally Olds.
Dear reader,
As you may have noticed, I haven’t written here for some time. This is because I’ve been working on something new—something I think you might appreciate.
Me and two other writers—Cameron Hurst and Sally Olds—have just launched THE PARIS END, a weekly newsletter of reported columns and reviews, published right here on Substack.
We started THE PARIS END in part due to a shared love for the lost art of reportage. As writers, we wanted to step away from the algorithmically mediated discourse churn, get back out into the streets, and report back on what we see. Just as Jimmy Breslin did in New York. Or Clarice Lispector in Rio de Janeiro. Or Joseph Roth in Weimar Berlin.
I’ve enjoyed writing this newsletter a lot, and hope there has been some joy for you in reading it. If so, I’m certain you’ll love THE PARIS END. My new columns will be not too dissimilar from what you’ve come to expect here, but more in-depth and thoroughly reported.
Here is a link to our Editors letter, which explains a little more about what you can expect from THE PARIS END. If you’re into it, consider subscribing.
Thanks so much for reading Paragraphs. I’ll occasionally update this newsletter with my published writing and other personal news.
Warmly,
Oscar Schwartz
